Early this morning units from West Friendship responded to a fatal vehicle accident on Route 32 in West Friendship. At 03:20 the tones sounded for a rescue with unknown injuries in the 2600 block of Route 32 for a vehicle that, according to the 911 caller, was off the road and appeared to be unoccupied.
Upon arrival Engine 31 found a vehicle that left the roadway and struck a tree with one occupant trapped inside. Engines 31 and 32 began extricating the occupant with the assistance of Rescue Squad 5 once they arrived. Once extricated it was determined that the patient had injuries incompatible with life and resuscitation efforts were ceased. Maryland State Police Trooper 3 assisted crews in searching the immediate area around the vehicle to ensure there were no additional patients. Engine 32 remained on scene until 06:10 to provide Howard County Police lighting for their investigation.
