This evening members participated in the monthly company training session at the Howard County Public Safety Training center, where rural water supply topics were covered. This discipline is especially important as much of our response area does not have fire hydrants. Members discussed the county Standard Operating Procedure for rural water supply and the different types of water sources available in the western end of the county, including cisterns, dry hydrants, and static water. Water Supply 3 established a fill site at a pond using the hydraulic submersible pump and a dump site with a folding tank was set up some distance away. Tankers 3 and 34 shuttled water between the two sites as members practiced drafting out of the folding tank. Thanks to all who attended to brush up on their skills!
