WFVFD took time this afternoon to remember our friend and Captain, Erik Steciak, who died in the line of duty in Harford County. Somehow ten years have passed since his death on January 6, 2015 while on a call in Bel Air, Maryland. Members from Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company met with our members at his resting place at Crestlawn Memorial Garden's Garden of Valor for a wreath laying ceremony, story telling, and reminiscence about Erik and his time with the department. Erik was a very dedicated volunteer, receiving many awards including EMS Person of the Year in 2006, and was one of the Top EMS Responders in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. He was also a Top Fire Responder in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. In 2011, Erik received the Luke Hoffman Training Award, in addition to the Gift of Life Award. Additional awards included the Fire and Rescue Quality and Care Award, Top Combination Responder, Distinguished Service, and Provider of the Year awards. We miss you buddy! |
