Members and career staff from WFVFD took part in this weekend's rural water supply class held at the Winfield VFD in Carroll County. Held in conjunction with Got Big Water, an organization dedicated to fire protection water supply, members joined with over 80 firefighters from Howard, Carroll, and Frederick Counties to brush up on best practices for tanker operations at a fire. Much of our first due coverage area is not serviced by public water or fire hydrants, so this was beneficial training for all.
The seminar consisted of classroom and practical portions over two days. At the Sunday "Grand Finale" water shuttle, a water flow of about 1500 gallons per minute was sustained supported by three fill sites. Thank you to Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department, their Ladies Auxiliary, and Got Big Water for an excellent training opportunity.
